51-Year-Old Man Arrested in Southern Maldives Over Alleged Child Abuse

A 51-year-old man has been taken into custody in connection with the alleged sexual abuse of a 10-year-old girl in the southern Maldives.

According to the Maldives Police Service (MPS), the case was reported yesterday to the South Central Police Division, which covers the Meemu, Faafu, Dhaalu, Thaa, and Laamu atolls.

To protect the identity of the minor, authorities have not disclosed the name of the island where the incident reportedly took place.

The suspect, a Maldivian national, remains under investigation as police continue to gather further details.
