Adam Azim Elected President of MDP’s Male’ Area in Internal Elections

Male’ City Mayor Adam Azim has been elected as the president of the Male’ Area for the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) in the party’s internal elections held on Friday.

According to provisional results released on the party’s website, Azim received 1,079 votes, securing a decisive victory over Mohamed Falah, who garnered 470 votes.

In addition to the Male’ Area presidency, the MDP by-elections saw contests for 17 seats on the party’s national council. The newly elected members, as per the provisional results, are:

The national council, an integral part of the MDP’s internal structure, ranks second only to the party’s congress. It comprises the presidents of all constituencies, members represented in parliament or government, the party president, vice president, chairperson, vice chairperson, and the presidents of the party’s youth and women’s wings.
