The Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare is inviting public opinion on implementing activities to establish the Coconut Development Center on ADh. Ariyadhoo. Ariyadhoo is an island designated for the project under the Ministry’s national tree regeneration programme.

The initiative seeks to boost the country’s coconut production and food security through the establishment of genetically improved tree nurseries.

Under the programme, a coconut development centre is set to be established on the island, alongside nurseries of genetically improved coconuts to supply certified varieties to other islands sustainably.

Ariyadhoo will also serve as a site for adaptive research aimed at identifying and addressing coconut palm diseases using biological control methods such as live insects and fungi. The Ministry invites those interested in providing feedback on the proposed activities to register for participation. Registrations can be completed by scanning the QR code in the Ministry’s social media post or using the following link.
