Ameen Appointed as Running Mate for Qasim

Ameen Ibrahim, Deputy leader of Jumhooree Party (JP) and Former Transport Minister has been chosen as the running mate for Qasim Ibrahim, the leader of JP.

Ameen Ibrahim’s political journey has been marked by his involvement with JP since its inception during the government’s formation. However, due to circumstances, he found himself in exile abroad. During his time abroad, he relocated to the United Kingdom obtained a PhD in Business Administration.

In recognition of his contributions to Dhivehi literature, Ameen Ibrahim was honoured with the 2007 Public Service Award.

The JP, an integral part of the ruling coalition, has made the decision not to participate in the coalition for a second term. Consequently, the JP-led coalition has engaged in discussions with numerous political entities, with the exception of the MDP, in their pursuit of victory in the upcoming election.

While extending invitations to forge an alliance with the JP, the largest opposition party in the country, the PPM, opted not to align with any particular group.
