Application Open for Chinese Gov’t Scholarships

Inclusive of a Doctoral degree, the Ministry of Higher Education, Labour, and Skills Development opened applications for Maldivians to apply for Chinese Government Scholarships for 2025/2026 academic year.
The ministry announced today that three scholarship opportunities will be provided to Maldivians under this program. One scholarship will be provided for an undergraduate course, and others will be available for master’s and doctoral-level courses. The deadline to apply for these programs is 2:00 PM on January 15.
According to the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC), the Chinese government offers scholarships to students worldwide to pursue higher education or conduct research in Chinese universities. China’s Ministry of Education entrusts the council with the admission, enrollment, and administration of the scholarship recipients.
Candidates must be under 25 years of age if they are applying for an undergraduate degree, under 35 years of age if they are applying for a master’s program, and under 40 years of age when applying for a doctoral degree.
The CSC will cover the tuition fee and accommodation of the students who receive this scholarship. Undergraduate students will receive an additional stipend of CNY 2,500 per month, master’s students CNY 3,000, and doctoral students CNY 3,500 per month. Scholarship holders will also receive comprehensive medical insurance amounting to CNY 800 per year.
