Applications Open for World Bank-Funded Fisheries Scholarships
The Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources, and Agriculture has announced the opening of applications for higher education scholarships in fisheries, offered under the World Bank’s Transforming Fisheries Management in South West Indian Ocean Region and Maldives project.
The programme offers three scholarships for undergraduate studies in an Asian nation, with two slots available for a Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries Science and one slot for a Bachelor’s degree in Aquaculture.
Financial Coverage
- The scholarship will cover the following expenses:
- Tuition fees
- Annual book allowance
- One-time establishment allowance
- One-time departure allowance
- Monthly stipend for the duration of the course
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must meet one of the following academic requirements:
- At least five O-Level subjects with a minimum grade of ‘C’, alongside three A-Level subjects with a minimum grade of ‘C’, or
- A foundation or certificate-level qualification that meets university entrance standards.
Interested individuals are required to submit their applications, along with all supporting documents, by 12:00 pm on 9 January 2025. The Ministry has emphasised that incomplete applications will not be accepted.
