Bangladesh High Commission in Maldives Celebrates the Independence and National Day of Bangladesh

The Bangladesh High Commission in Maldives commemorated the Independence and National Day of Bangladesh yesterday.
The day marks the historic declaration of Bangladesh’s independence in 1971, following a nine-month-long valiant struggle and supreme sacrifices of millions of martyrs.
The celebrations began with the hoisting of the national flag with national anthem by His Excellency Md Sohel Parvez, Acting High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the Maldives, at the Chancery premises in Hulhumale. Officials of the High Commission and members of the Bangladeshi community attended the ceremony.
The High Commissioner paid deep homage to the valiant freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives and paved the way for an independent Bangladesh. He also recognized the role of expatriate community in 1971 for developing public opinion in the international sphere for the independence of Bangladesh.
He emphasised Bangladesh’s strong bilateral ties with the Maldives, rooted in shared values, mutual respect, and cooperation in various sectors, including education, Health, trade, climate resilience. He thanked the Hon’ble President of the Republic of Maldives H.E. Dr. Mohamed Muizzu for his greetings to the Hon’ble President of Bangladesh and to the friendly People of Bangladesh on this occasion. He also acknowledged the greetings of the Foreign Minister H.E. Dr. Abdulla Khaleel for the Adviser of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh.
The High Commissioner urged the Bangladeshi expatriates working in the Republic of Maldives to participate in the development process of new Bangladesh. He also requested them to abide by the local law and rules properly and to work with dignity and pride. He asked the expatriates to work from everyone’s position to uplift the image of Bangladesh. Finally he sends his Independence and National Day greetings to the Bangladesh citizens in Maldives.
