Banks Remain Operational Despite Gov’t Declaring Public Holiday
The Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) and the Bank of Maldives (BML) have announced that their services will remain operational today despite the government declaring a public holiday due to severe weather conditions.
The decision to keep banks open follows an announcement by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu last evening, declaring a public holiday in response to heavy rainfall that has caused significant flooding across the country. The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), the central bank, has authorised commercial banks to continue providing services to the public during the holiday.
Both the Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) and the Bank of Maldives (BML) have assured customers that their branches will be open, and all services will remain accessible.
The Maldives banking network, which includes 38 branches, 86 self-service banking centres, 143 ATMs, and over 200 cash agents across 20 atolls, is fully operational. Both banks have emphasised their commitment to supporting customers during this period.
The public is advised to check with their respective banks for any specific branch information or service updates.
