The event aimed to support lawyers licensed before 31 December with guidance on prominent challenges within the field.
The forum covered significant topics, including human rights, access to justice, and mechanisms for appointing legal representatives for those unable to afford them. A key focus was the council’s plans to establish a Pro Bono Clearing House to facilitate legal assistance for underserved individuals.
In addition, the Bar Council outlined ongoing professional development initiatives to support lawyers’ expertise and discussed the renewal process for legal licences. Attendees also engaged in discussions on the procedural obstacles encountered within the courtroom.
The forum series has provided a valuable platform for legal professionals to exchange perspectives and propose strategies to enhance law practice across the Maldives.
