Binveriyaa Scheme’s Hulhumalé Plots Worth MVR 5.4 Billion, Says HDC

Housing Development Corporation’s (HDC) Managing Director Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed said the 1,351 plots of land allocated free of charge in Hulhumale under the Binveriyaa housing scheme implemented by former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s government are worth MVR 5.4 billion.

Replying to a question by MDP MP Abdul Ghafoor Moosa (Gapo) in the Public Accounts Committee of the Parliament today, Fazul said MVR 5.4 billion should have been received under the scheme but no transaction has been conducted so far.

The previous administration had identified 18,955 people as eligible for the Binveriyaa scheme in the Male’ area. Of these, 2,218 plots will be allocated in Gulhifalhu, 1,351 plots in Hulhumale’ and 5,432 plots in Giraavaru Falhu.
