Maldives Broadcasting Commission (Broadcom) has elected its member Sofa Shafeeq as its president today.

The Commission’s President’s position has been vacant since December 5, when the former President Mariyam Waheedha’s term ended. Along with her, member Ali Yoosuf’s term also ended, and as the parliament was working to fill those positions, the election of a new president for Broadcom was delayed.
