The construction of a building in Male’ has led to the adjacent property tilting sideways due to damage to its foundation.

Malé City Council reported that during the construction of M. Navigator, part of the neighbouring building, M. Lucky Heaven, began to sink and partially collapse. This development has triggered an ongoing evacuation of the building’s residents.

The affected property is located on Izzudheen Magu, near Haama Shop. The issue was identified earlier this afternoon, and no injuries have been reported.

According to the City Council, the incident likely resulted from the absence of sheet piling during the construction of Navigator. Consequently, cracks have appeared in the walls of Lucky Heaven, and the building has started to sink.

Efforts are currently underway to relocate four families residing in four rooms of Lucky Heaven. The occupants include three children under the age of 18 and six other individuals. Two of the affected sections are occupied by foreign tenants.
