Clean Maldives and Dhiraagu Launch ‘GoGreen2024’ with Special Tree Planting Event

Clean Maldives in partnership with Dhiraagu have conducted a special tree planting event,  ‘GoGreen2024’.  

The ‘GoGreen2024’ event, which took place at Hulhumale’ Phase 2, was organised by Clean  Maldives in partnership with Dhiraagu.

The event was inaugurated by the Minister of Climate Change, Environment and Energy, Thoriq  Ibrahim and is a contribution to the national ‘5 Million Trees’ initiative by the government which  was launched to commemorate World Environment Day. 

As part of this ‘GoGreen2024’ event, a total of 1000 trees were planted in Hulhumale’ Phase 2,  including Magoo (Sea Lettuce), Kuredhi (Ironwood), Dhigga (Sea Hibiscus), Hirundhu (Portia  Tree), and coconut trees. Under the partnership with Clean Maldives, Dhiraagu has contributed  255 plants for this initiative. 

Officials and volunteers from Dhiraagu, Clean Maldives, Housing Development Corporation  (HDC), Hard Rock Hotel Maldives, EyeCare Maldives and other stakeholders as well as community members actively participated in the tree planting.  

Environmental sustainability is a key pillar of Dhiraagu’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. As such, this initiative will support community efforts toward a healthier planet by  helping to create more resilient ecosystems, mitigate climate change, and promote community  spirit and sustainability
