Completion of Several Projects Inaugurated in Baa Atoll

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih inaugurated the completion of several projects between 21st and 22nd August in B. Thulhaadhoo, B. Hithadhoo, B. Eydhafushi, B. Maalhos, B. Dhonfanu and B. Kihaadhoo.

Projects in Thulhaadhoo

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih officially inaugurated the newly completed infrastructure projects on Thulhaadhoo Island in Baa Atoll today.

These projects include coastal protection, 100 housing units, and the FENAKA office. The President inaugurated these projects during his ongoing visit to the islands of Baa Atoll.

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) completed the coastal protection project. The project features a 140-metre geotextile bag (geobag) revetment and a 30-metre geobag groyne installation.

The 100 housing units were developed by a joint venture between Precision Engineering Services Pvt. Ltd. and Flexin Pvt. Ltd. These are three-bedroom apartments.

The new FENAKA office, inaugurated by President Solih today, is a building featuring a lobby, manager’s room, meeting room, guest room, and pantry.

Projects in Eydhafushi and Hithadhoo

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih attended ceremonies to inaugurate the completion of several infrastructure projects on Eydhafushi and Hithadhoo Islands in Baa Atoll yesterday.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih travelled to Eydhafushi Island in Baa Atoll on Monday and inaugurated the extension of the Baa Atoll Hospital. He also visited Hithaadhoo Island and inaugurated the new powerhouse and FENAKA office.

The completion of these projects was marked as part of President Solih’s ongoing visit to the atoll.

The extension of Baa Atoll Hospital was developed to address space constraints at the facility. The new addition features a six-bed dialysis unit, six Outpatient Department (OPD) consultation rooms, a waiting area, and a reception.

Following the inauguration of the extension, President Solih inspected the building and inquired about its services and operations.

The newly inaugurated FENAKA office and powerhouse on Hithaadhoo Island have been developed with state-of-the-art amenities.

The facility can accommodate up to 15 employees and is strategically located away from residential areas. Its power generation capacity is 800 kilowatts.

The office was designed to provide a comfortable and efficient working environment for FENAKA employees and better serve the local community’s needs.

Projects in Maalhos and Dhonfanu

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih officially opened today several newly completed infrastructure projects on the islands of Maalhos and Dhonfanu in Baa Atoll.

The President began his visit on Maalhos Island, where he inaugurated the water and sewerage network project. He then travelled to Dhonfanu Island, where he inaugurated the island’s coastal protection, harbour, powerhouse, and FENAKA office.

The development of the water supply and sewerage network on Maalhos Island was carried out by the Malé Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC). The newly opened infrastructure represents significant investments in the development and well-being of the local communities.

The harbour and coastal protection projects on Dhonfanu Island were completed by MT Højgaard Pvt. Ltd. The coastal protection project included the development of a 536-metre revetment, while the harbour project involved dredging to increase its depth, constructing a quay wall and outer seawall, installing new ramps and port lights, and paving to improve accessibility and functionality. These enhancements will provide significant benefits to the local community.

On Dhonfanu Island, President Solih inaugurated the new FENAKA office and powerhouse. These state-of-the-art facilities include a powerhouse with a power generation capacity of 650 kilowatts. The facilities were strategically located away from the residential area to minimise disruption to the island’s inhabitants.

Projects in Kihaadhoo

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih inaugurated the newly developed harbour and volleyball court today on Kihaadhoo Island in Baa Atoll.

The President marked the completion of these projects during his ongoing visit to the islands of Baa Atoll.

MT Højgaard Pvt. Ltd. completed the harbour development project, which included dredging, the installation of a 231-metre gravel bed, a 209-metre revetment, and a 326-metre quay wall, as well as additional works related to the harbour development project. President Solih also inaugurated the modern volleyball court on the island, which was contracted to Brilliant Company Pvt. Ltd.
