Completion of Several Projects Inaugurated in Noonu Atoll

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih inaugurated the completion of several projects in N.Maalhendhoo, N.Kudafari, N.Henbadhoo, N.Kendhikulhudhoo, N.Manadhoo, and N.Miladhoo.

Projects on Maalhendhoo and Kudafari

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih attended ceremonies yesterday to inaugurate the completion of several infrastructure projects on Maalhendhoo and Kudafari Islands in Noonu Atoll yesterday.

These projects include the water and sewerage networks on both islands and a football ground on Kudafari Island. The completion of these projects represents a significant milestone in the development of these islands.

The water and sewerage networks on Maalhendhoo and Kudafaree Islands were contracted to the Malé Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC). These projects have now been completed, with water and sewerage connections established for households on both islands and services fully operational.

In addition, President Solih inaugurated the football ground on Kudafari Island. The facility, constructed by V.A.M. & Company Pvt. Ltd., boasts modern amenities and a turf designed to support young athletes and promote healthy lifestyles.

Projects on Henbadhoo

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih inaugurated the completion of several infrastructure projects on Henbadhoo Island in Noonu Atoll yesterday. 

These projects include the water supply network, coastal protection, an upgraded harbour, and the FENAKA Office and powerhouse. The completion of these projects was marked during the President’s visit to the island this afternoon as part of his ongoing trip to the atoll.

The water supply network on Henbadhoo Island was contracted to the Malé Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC). The project has now been completed, with water supply connections established for 162 households on the island and the service fully operationalised. The coastal protection project encompassed the development of a 235-metre revetment and 25-metre groynes.

The upgraded harbour, inaugurated today, was built to modern standards by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC). The harbour and its channel’s basin were further dredged, port lights were installed, and pavement was constructed.

Following the harbour’s inauguration, President Solih opened the new FENAKA Office and powerhouse. The facilities are equipped with modern amenities, with the office able to accommodate 15 staff members and the powerhouse having a power generation capacity of 498 kilowatts.

Projects on Kendhikulhudhoo

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih inaugurated the completion of infrastructure development projects on Kendhikulhudhoo Island in the Noonu Atoll yesterday. 

These projects include the development of a modern football ground and the new FENAKA Office and powerhouse. The completion of these projects was marked as part of his ongoing visit to some islands in the atoll.

The football ground, inaugurated by the President, has been layered with turf, fenced, and equipped with a lighting system. The government contracted AMIN Construction Pvt. Ltd. for its development. The new FENAKA Office can accommodate up to 30 staff members, while the powerhouse boasts a power generation capacity of 1,720 kilowatts.

The President also attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new hospital on the island. The facility is designed to accommodate 30 beds and will provide advanced medical care to the local community.

Projects on Manadhoo 

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih inaugurated the completion of several infrastructure projects on Manadhoo Island in the Noonu Atoll today. 

These projects include the development of a water supply network, six Outpatient Department (OPD) rooms, and a laboratory in Noonu Atoll Hospital. A multipurpose hall was also constructed in the Noonu Atoll Education Centre, along with an indoor gym, a modern football ground, and the FENAKA Office. The completion of these projects was marked as part of President Solih’s ongoing tour of some islands in the atoll.

Vishwaraj Environment Pvt. Ltd. completed the water system project on Manadhoo Island under a US$800 million line-of-credit facility from the Exim Bank of India. As a result, 269 households have been connected to the water network. Additionally, President Solih inaugurated the multipurpose hall, a state-of-the-art and spacious building built by Afami Maldives Pvt. Ltd.

Before inaugurating the new and modernised football ground, President Solih also inaugurated the completion of the indoor gym. The new FENAKA Office, developed in the harbour area, can accommodate up to 30 staff members. These developments mark significant progress in the infrastructure of Manadhoo Island.

Projects on Miladhoo

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih visited Miladhoo Island today as part of his ongoing tour of the islands in the Noonu Atoll. 

During his visit, he marked the completion of several infrastructure development projects, including an upgraded harbour, a new FENAKA Office, and a powerhouse on the island. These new amenities will improve the quality of life for residents and promote economic growth in the region.

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) completed the development of the upgraded harbour, which opened officially today. The upgrade included dredging the harbour and channel basin to increase their depth, installing new ramps and port lights, and constructing pavement to improve accessibility and functionality. These enhancements will provide significant benefits to the local community.

President Solih also inaugurated the new FENAKA Office and powerhouse on Miladhoo Island. These facilities have state-of-the-art amenities, including a powerhouse with a power generation capacity of 1,080 kilowatts. The new FENAKA Office can accommodate 30 employees, representing a significant increase from the previous office’s capacity of just three.
