The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of dignitaries including Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali, Parliamentarian Abdulla Waheed, and President of Dhidhdhoo Island Council Moosa Shafeeq.
With a budget of USD 3.2 Million, Rasheed Carpentry and Construction (RCC) has undertaken the construction of an Islamic Centre that will accommodate up to 1,500 worshippers, complete with a spacious prayer area and a multipurpose hall with a capacity of 450 worshippers.
Additionally, the centre will house essential facilities, including an administrative office, a well-equipped library, four classrooms, and two seminar rooms. To cater to the needs of the visitors and the community, a pantry will also be included.
Notably, the Dhidhdhoo Islamic Centre is designed with an emphasis on sustainability and energy efficiency. It is set to incorporate air-conditioning systems and harness renewable energy sources, contributing to a reduction in electricity consumption.
The project is to be completed in 540 days.
