The unfortunate incident took place on October 19, 2021, when Mary Grace Oned Pineda was fatally attacked in her apartment on the first floor of Ma. Udhuheykokaage in Male’ City.

Lamha’s husband, Marvin S. Y. Vargas, faces charges of murder with intent in connection with the case. Lamha, identified as Vargas’s mistress, is charged both as an accomplice to murder and for unauthorised possession of controlled medical substances. All three individuals, including the victim, were employed as nurses at IGMH’s ER.

Both Lamha and Marvin have been in custody pending the outcome of their trial.

During the latest court hearing, Lamha appealed for her release, proposing the use of an ankle bracelet monitor. She cited ongoing medical treatment for certain health conditions as the grounds for her request.

The Criminal Court granted Lamha’s release for a duration of 180 days, citing the slow progress of hearings in the case. It is noteworthy that Lamha had previously sought release, a request that was denied by the judge.
