Dhiraagu has unveiled its 2025 calendar, Minivankan Mathee Abadhah, on National Unity Day, commemorating the upcoming 60th anniversary of Maldivian independence and celebrating the nation’s unifying spirit.
The calendar, titled Minivankan Mathee Abadhah (meaning ‘Forever Independent’), highlights a national symbol for each month, celebrating the Maldives’ unique culture and traditions. Dhiraagu also announced that they will release a monthly educational video, offering insights into each symbol as a valuable resource to explore Maldivian history and heritage.
The calendar was launched by Mr. Mohamed Mauroof Jameel, Managing Director of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), and Mr. Ahmed Nasif, Chairman of the HDC’s Board of Directors, during a meeting focused on enhancing collaboration between HDC and Dhiraagu to improve services for the residents of Hulhumalé.
Mr. Ismail Rasheed, CEO & MD of Dhiraagu, stated, “As we approach the 60th anniversary of the Maldives’ independence, we are proud to unveil Dhiraagu’s 2025 calendar, which highlights the symbols that have defined our nation’s journey, illustrating our rich culture, resilience, and unity that have shaped the Maldives into the vibrant nation we are today.”
He also expressed that it was a great honour to present the calendar to Mr Jameel and Mr Nasif while reflecting on the 20th anniversary of the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami and highlighting Mr Jameel’s role as Chairman of Dhiraagu’s Board at the time.
Rasheed also recalled Dhiraagu’s role in the tsunami’s aftermath by restoring damaged network infrastructure and swiftly re-establishing communication services to the islands, which supported the relief efforts of the government and various organizations.
