ECM Shifts Political Party Deregistration Online
The Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM) has announced the transition of the political party deregistration process to an online format.
Starting today, individuals wishing to remove their names from political party registrations must submit requests through the Commission’s portal at my.elections.gov.mv.

The move is part of the ECM’s broader efforts to streamline procedures and enhance public convenience. This follows the Commission’s recent reforms, including the introduction of the ninth amendment to political party regulations late last month. Under this amendment, political parties are required to process deregistration requests within 14 days of submission.
Should a party fail to comply, individuals have the right to file a complaint with the ECM, which will then intervene to finalise the deregistration.
