The Nilandhoo Council has reported that eight homes were flooded following heavy rainfall in F. Nilandhoo.

The flooding occurred after rain began on the island at 8:00 am yesterday. An official from the Nilandhoo Council confirmed that several homes experienced water intrusion due to the rain, but noted that no significant damage had been reported from the affected households. In response to the flooding, the Council has provided sandbags and is working to drain the floodwaters.

The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has also been deployed in the area, with its Central Area Command actively assisting with flood drainage efforts.

This latest flooding follows severe damage caused by continuous heavy rainfall around two weeks ago. At that time, Nilandhoo Council member Sameera Ibrahim reported that 80 percent of households on the island experienced flooding. Additionally, the island’s sewerage system had failed, resulting in the overflow of junctions.
