Finance Ministry Seeks Health Insurance Providers for Parliamentarians

The Ministry of Finance and Planning has issued an invitation to insurance providers to cover the health insurance of former parliamentarians, current parliamentarians, and their dependents.

In a gazetted notice published on 13 April, the ministry announced that it is seeking insurance providers at the request of the Maldives Parliament. Interested parties must submit their bids by 10:00 a.m. on 30 April.

Bidders are required to pay a registration fee of MVR 500 and submit their bids directly to the ministry. They must also provide a bid security of MVR 60,500 by 8 September (148 days after the ministry issued the announcement).

The Maldives Parliament currently has 93 members. Each parliamentarian receives a basic salary of MVR 42,500 and a living allowance of MVR 20,000, bringing their total salary to MVR 62,500. In addition, they receive MVR 20,000 in committee allowances.

Additionally, the basic salary of the Speaker of the Parliament is MVR 53,125, while that of the Deputy Speaker is MVR 51,000. As they receive the same living allowance as other parliamentarians, their total salaries are MVR 73,125 and MVR 71,000.
