Fire Breaks Out in Hulhumeedhoo Wetland Area

The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has reported that a fire broke out in the wetland area of Mathikilhi Eco Garden in Hulhumeedhoo, Addu City.

The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) confirmed that the incident was reported at yesterday 5:30 p.m.
Firefighting efforts were promptly initiated by the Hulhumeedhoo Fire Station, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the blaze has not yet been determined, although similar incidents have previously affected wetlands in the southern region of the Maldives.
Mathikilhi Eco Garden forms part of a larger wetland system and is a designated UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, underscoring its ecological importance.
