President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed attended the Huffaz Graduation Ceremony at the Islamic Centre last night.
At the ceremony, organised by the National Centre for Holy Quran, Muizzu awarded certificates to the 22 graduating Huffaz. With the administration prioritising religious affairs, the teachings of the Holy Quran have now expanded to the atolls.
The President’s Office stated that, following the government’s decision to introduce Quran classes on every inhabited island, free courses are now available in 10 mosques nationwide. They also reported that efforts to resume classes at various branches of the National Centre for the Holy Quran, which had previously been stalled, have been successful.
According to the President’s Office, 630 students are currently enrolled in the government’s hafiz program. Additionally, the government has decided to double the allowance for huffaz and raise the certification criteria to an advanced level.
