First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has stressed that just as great importance is placed on beautifully reciting the Holy Quran following Tajweed rules, equal attention must be given to actively embodying its teachings.

She made these remarks during her speech during the closing ceremony of the Eagles Community’s first Quran Competition 1446, held at Thaajuddeen School last night.

The First Lady urged everyone to pursue beauty and excellence in all aspects of life, guided by the principles of the Holy Quran. She emphasised that such values could inspire positive change not only in individuals but across the nation.

She welcomed the rise in Quran recitation competitions, describing it as a hopeful and encouraging trend. She pointed out that Maldivian children and the wider community are increasingly seeking guidance and comfort in the teachings of the Holy Quran.

Sajidha commended the Eagles Community for their social development efforts. She praised their initiatives and underscored the importance of individual responsibility in contributing to the community’s well-being.

The competition, held during the past month of Ramadan, was open to students of Thaajuddeen School. A total of 174 students took part in the recitation with text category.

At the event, the Sajidha presented awards to the students who achieved first, second, and third places.

In a report shared during the ceremony, the Eagles Community thanked the Government for its support of their social work. They also announced plans to organise a larger Quran competition in the near future, with categories for recitation with text, recitation without text, and one specifically for Hafiz.
