Foreign Minister Zameer Embarks on Official Diplomatic Mission to Qatar

Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer embarked on an official journey to Qatar last night, marking his inaugural visit to the country since the inception of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s administration.

The trip, scheduled to extend until Monday, includes significant discussions between Minister Zameer and Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the agenda encompasses high-level deliberations to fortify the bilateral relationship between the Maldives and Qatar.

In addition to engagements with Prime Minister Al Thani, Minister Zameer is set to confer with other prominent Qatari officials, focusing on avenues for enhancing the existing ties between the two nations.

The year 2024 marks a significant milestone, commemorating four decades since diplomatic relations were established between Qatar and the Maldives.

Minister Zameer’s diplomatic mission is accompanied by the Secretary of Bilateral Affairs, Dr Hala Hameed, the Ambassador at Large and Maldives Ambassador to China, Dr Fazeel Najeeb, and the Foreign Ministry’s Assistant Director, Lamha Saleem.
