Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih condemned the attack on Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) activist Mariyam Zubair last night.
In a post made on X today, Solih condemned the oil splash targeted towards the highly involved MDP activist and mother of parliamentarian for South Galohu constituency Meekail Naseem.
“I condemn this attack on the high-ranking MDP member Mandhy (Mariyam) Zubair in the harshest of terms,” he wrote in Dhivehi.

Solih called this a cowardly attempt to silence MDP and the citizens and they will not back down from speaking up against the government.
“This cowardly attack is an attempt to scare everyone that speaks out against the ill-conceived policies, to cut off the citizens’ voices,” Solih said.
First Lady Sajidha Mohamed and the Spokesperson for the President’s Office, Heena Waleed, have both condemned the attack on Mariyam Zubair.
In an interview given to Adhadhu, Zubair accuses President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed of masterminding the attack and called on the Police for the attack.
