The new building is set to rise on a prime plot directly in front of Amin Avenue in Hulhumale’. The project, which spans a 5,000-acre site, is being developed by Medtech Maldives, a local construction firm. Medtech has committed to completing the building within 18 months.

During the ceremony, Managing Director Shakeel disclosed important details about the project’s finances. Initially valued at USD 5.6 million, the project cost was reduced to USD 5.1 million after negotiations with Medtech. Shakeel highlighted that this building is a key part of the corporation’s broader strategy to enhance its operations and achieve long-term growth.

He also noted that this marks the first step in establishing a permanent and efficient office for the corporation. Shakeel emphasised that the establishment of the Hajj Corporation was personally requested by the President and promised that more details on major project developments will be shared in the coming days.

The new nine-storey structure will house the Hajj Corporation’s main offices, with additional floors available for rent as office space, creating a new revenue stream for the organisation.

The Maldives Hajj Corporation, established in 2013 by Presidential Decree, has so far operated from rented premises. The construction of this headquarters signals a strategic shift for the organisation as it ventures into real estate, aiming to strengthen its financial stability and operational capacity.

The completion of the headquarters is expected to significantly enhance the corporation’s ability to deliver its services, representing an important milestone in its ongoing development.
