Gov’t Announces International Scholarships for Fisheries and Ocean Resources Studies

The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources has unveiled a range of scholarships for higher education in 17 disciplines, including degree and PhD programs abroad.

These scholarships are part of the Transforming Fisheries Management in the South West Indian Ocean Region and Maldives Project, a collaborative effort between the government and the World Bank.

Opportunities include one PhD, two Master’s degrees, and seven Bachelor’s degree scholarships. The PhD opportunity is exclusively in the agriculture sector. The two Master’s degree scholarships are available in the fields of Sustainable Studies, Sustainable Development Management, Plant Protection, Entomology, and Plant Pathology.

The Bachelor’s degree scholarships cover a wide range of fields. These fields include Surveying and Mapping Science, Agricultural Science, Veterinary Science, Zoology, Animal Science, Horticultural Science, Plant Health, Agriculture with a major in Botany and Entomology, Agricultural Economics, Natural Resource Management, and Economics.

The deadline for scholarship applications is 1st September. The Ministry has stated that applications missing any required documents will be rejected.
