Gov’t Announces Transfer of Over 1300 Land Plots from Giraavaru Falhu to Gulhi Falhu

The Ministry of Housing, Land, and Urban Development has announced a significant change in the land use plan for Giraavaru Falhu, resulting in the relocation of over 1300 land plots originally designated for the area to Gulhi Falhu.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Housing, Land, and Urban Development, it was highlighted that the allocation of land under the ‘Binveriya Scheme’ in Giraavaru Falhu did not account for the necessary space needed for essential services provision at the location.
As a result, the land use plan has been revised to incorporate space for these fundamental services, as outlined in the statement.
Due to the restructuring of the land use plan, accommodating the same number of land plots as initially planned for Giraavaru Falhu is no longer feasible. Consequently, the Ministry clarified that a portion of these land plots will now be allocated from Gulhi Falhu instead of Giraavaru Falhu, as previously stated.
A total of 1347 land plots require relocation, comprising various sizes:
- 193 land plots of 1250 sqft
- 663 land plots of 1650 sqft
- 487 land plots of 2050 sqft
- 4 land plots of 2450 sqft
Individuals who were initially allotted land plots of these sizes in Giraavaru Falhu are instructed to apply for relocation to Gulhi Falhu through the ministry’s Hiyavehi portal starting tomorrow.
In the event that the Ministry receives more relocation requests than the predetermined number of available plots, a draw will be conducted on a pre-announced date to select individuals for allocation.
