Gov’t Assess Homes in Male’ Following Flood Damage

National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the Ministry of Social and Family Development visited homes in Male’ today to assess the damages caused by flooding from the torrential rains this past weekend.
The ministry initiated efforts to check in on the safety of the residents. NDMA and Maldives Red Crescent visited many houses that reported water damage this past weekend.
The floods were triggered by intense rainfall; the highest rainfall was recorded in Hulhule’ with 144 millilitres while Male’ had 142.2 millilitres of rainfall. NDMA said 226 individuals from 26 households were displaced due to the flooding.
Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) predicts slight showers for the next 48 hours.
