The information-collecting event started this morning and is to go on until 6:00 in the evening. Over 75 officials participated in this event, and they plan to collect the biometric data of foreign teachers and company employees.

In addition to Male’, government officials have decided to carry this out in Thilafushi and Gulhi today. The ministry said employees from Anti-Trafficking in Persons (Anti-TIP) are also collecting information.

Since its launch in May last year, the government has started its operations in 196 islands and completed work in 50 islands.

According to the ministry, a three-year plan to solve this problem has been developed. The first phase, Operation Kurangi, aims to ensure that all immigrant workers in the Maldives are here within the regulations. As of December 18, last year, the ministry had collected metric data from 18,191 workers.
