Gov’t Declares Tomorrow as Eid

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs declared tomorrow Fitr Eid, following the moon sighting in the Maldives this evening.
As per religious custom, the crescent moon sighting is required for the new month to be declared in Islam, which is when Ramadan will end and Shawwal will begin, prompting Fitr Eid celebrations.

In the announcement posted by the ministry, they said even though the moon was not sighted in the Maldives, it was in several Islamic countries, and as per the policies followed in the Maldives, the ministry declared tomorrow as Eid.
