The Secretary Bilateral at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Haala Hameed, has urged Maldivian students heading abroad for their studies to register with the Maldivian embassy in their host country.

She made this appeal during a function organised by the Higher Education Ministry for students who have been awarded scholarships from Türkiye and are preparing to leave soon. She emphasised the importance of registering with the embassy, stating that it would facilitate communication should the students require assistance while overseas.

In her remarks, she attributed the scholarships awarded to Maldivian students by Türkiye to the successful visit made by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu shortly after he took office in November. She also underscored the importance of students studying in Türkiye familiarising themselves with the nation’s customs and culture.

The scholarship opportunities provided by Türkiye encompass slots for Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD degrees. A total of 14 students have been selected for these scholarships, with 11 set to depart soon.
