The Maldives government has signed agreements with hospitals in Dubai and Thailand to expand the coverage of the Aasandha health insurance scheme, enabling Maldivians to access treatment in these facilities.

In a social media announcement today, Aasandha stated that agreements have been signed with Thailand’s World Medical Hospital and Dubai’s Burjeel Medical City. From 15 January, Maldivians will be able to seek treatment at these hospitals under the health insurance scheme.

Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with Bangkok Hospital, a major medical facility in Thailand, to extend insurance coverage for treatments there, according to the Public Service Media (PSM).

Expanding Aasandha coverage to more international medical facilities is a key pledge by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. Until now, the scheme has been limited to hospitals in neighbouring India and the Maldives.
