The initiative includes three distinct grants. The first is a USD 5 million system transformation grant, with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) serving as the grant agent. The second is a USD 1.5 million system capacity grant, also managed by UNICEF. The third is a USD 3 million multiplier grant, administered by the World Bank (WB).

The project’s objectives are to improve the quality of education, train teachers, ensure safe school environments, promote educational equality, and develop additional schools. The Maldives has joined the GPE board and will serve in this role until 2026.

The Vice President also launched the programme document and the project website at the ceremony.
