Gov’t Nominates Ahmed Ali Habeeb as Chairperson of BML
The government has nominated Ahmed Ali Habeeb, currently serving as the cabinet secretary at the President’s Office, as the new chairperson of the Bank of Maldives (BML).
The announcement comes ahead of BML’s upcoming Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM), scheduled for 21st September.
BML’s agenda for the EGM includes the nomination of three candidates for the bank’s board. In addition to Habeeb, the government has put forward the names of Ali Irufan, of Daylight, S. Maradhoo-Feydhoo, and Mohamed Shahid, of Hulhumalé, K. Malé.
While sources indicate that Habeeb is the nominee for the chairperson role, the government has not yet issued an official confirmation.
