Gov’t Opens Applications for Japan Agricultural Scholarships

The Ministry of Higher Education has announced the opening of applications for scholarships offered by Japan to pursue advanced studies in agriculture.

These scholarships are part of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Agriculture Studies Network for Food Security 2025.

The opportunities are available for both Master’s and PhD programmes in agricultural studies. Interested candidates must submit their applications by 1:30 PM on 26th September via the ministry’s online portal.

For the Master’s programme, applicants are required to hold a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and must be Maldivian citizens under the age of 35 as of 1st April 2025. PhD candidates must possess a Master’s degree in a relevant field and be under 40 years old by the same date.

Additionally, applicants who have previously taken out a student loan from the Ministry of Higher Education must have maintained regular payments, without any defaults, to be considered eligible.
