Gov’t Opens Applications for Regional Youth Parliament on Climate Action

The government has announced the launch of the Regional Youth Parliament on Climate Action (RYPCA), inviting applications from eligible individuals keen to contribute to climate policy formulation and implementation.

The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information, and Arts revealed that this programme is an initiative of the Youth Empowerment on Climate Action Platform (YECAP),aims to harness the creativity, energy, and diversity of young leaders. These leaders will play a pivotal role in influencing climate policies at both national and regional levels.

The programme is specifically targeting members of governmental bodies, legal professions, and youth organisations. Participants are expected to be actively involved in legislative bodies, state assemblies, government authorities, or as climate negotiators. Previous engagement with national and subnational youth parliaments, youth councils, or advisory panels related to climate issues is also required.

Eligible candidates must be between 18 and 35 years old, proficient in English, and actively engaged in advising or assisting in the drafting of climate-related legislation and policy documents within government agencies. The programme particularly encourages applications from women, youth, persons with disabilities, refugees, expatriates, homeless individuals, island residents, and members of minority communities.

Applications must be submitted by July 14 to be considered for participation in this initiative aimed at fostering inclusive and effective climate action leadership among the youth.
