Gov’t Orders Vessel Clearance for Thilafushi Reclamation
The government has issued a directive requiring the clearance of vessels from the Thilafushi channel to allow for sloping works in preparation for land reclamation in the area.
In a recent statement, the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has instructed that all vessels currently berthed in designated zones, as indicated on an accompanying chart, must be removed within seven days.

Failure to clear the vessels from these specified areas within the stipulated timeframe will result in HDC enforcing the “Procedural Guidelines for Vessels and Assets in Thilafushi Channel.”
For further information or inquiries, HDC has advised contacting their hotline at 1516. The corporation also emphasised the importance of cooperation from relevant stakeholders, noting that the Thilafushi reclamation project is intended to create new business opportunities.
