Director General Hussain Akram informed PSM News that IBAMA groups have already been set up in 129 islands across 15 different atolls. He expressed confidence that the groups will be operational throughout all the atolls by year’s end.

Director General Akram also underscored the collaborative efforts between the Ibama groups and the ministry to identify individuals and families living in poverty and vulnerable conditions. The initiative aims to ensure that single mothers receive appropriate benefits and to offer support to those in need.

Additionally, there will be a focus on gathering information regarding the financial status and educational requirements of vulnerable groups, with the goal of developing a comprehensive assessment tool.

The ministry anticipates that this initiative will play a crucial role in creating tailored plans to uplift vulnerable groups and improve their living standards.
