The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has reported significant damage across the southern, central, and northern islands of the Maldives due to ongoing heavy rains and thunderstorms. Some islands have been severely impacted, experiencing extensive flooding and damage to homes.
The NDMA is actively working with island councils to assess the situation, provide relief, and offer temporary shelter and food to affected residents. Below are some of the hardest-hit areas:

In Dhaalu Bandidhoo, strong gusts of wind caused severe damage to homes. The roof of one house was completely blown off, damaging the kitchen and appliances. The seven residents of the house have been relocated to temporary shelter as repairs are expected to take time. Another house on the island also sustained partial roof damage, with restoration efforts currently underway.
Additionally, heavy flooding has submerged roads, and several trees have been uprooted due to the storms. Flooding in Kurendhoo has left streets inundated, prompting efforts to drain water using pumps and water trucks. NDMA has reported that over 70 houses experienced water leaks caused by the floods, and an ongoing survey is assessing the full extent of the damage.
In Feydhoo, Addu City, heavy rains damaged the roof of one house, leading to leaks and a subsequent ceiling collapse. NDMA has completed initial repairs to the affected property. The streets of the capital, Malé, were also heavily flooded. The NDMA has been stacking sandbags around vulnerable houses to prevent further water intrusion.
The NDMA continues to monitor the situation and provide assistance to those affected by the severe weather conditions. Residents are advised to stay cautious and follow updates from local authorities.
