Historic Achievement: Maldives Collects Over MVR 100 mil in Zakat ul Mul

Maldives collected over MVR 100 million as Zakat ul-Mal for the first time last year.

According to the Maldives Zakat House, MVR 101,939,070.15 million was collected as Zakat ul-Mal in 2024.

Since President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu launched the organisation last year, it has been working to increase Maldivians’ awareness of the different types of Zakat. 

Maldives Zakat House said the data from the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) showed that Maldivians were more consistent last year in their Zakat obligations. 

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs thanked those eligible for Zakat for their consistency and assured citizens that the money collected would be distributed as regulated by the Sharia.
