HPA Begins Inspections of Salons and Spas in Greater Male’ Area
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has launched an inspection campaign targeting salons and spas operating in the greater Male’ area.
According to the HPA, the inspections, which began on Monday, will continue until December 19. The initiative aims to assess the cleanliness and hygiene standards of these establishments, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
In a statement, the HPA urged salon and spa owners to fully cooperate with the inspection process. The agency has highlighted concerns over poor hygiene practices in some facilities, noting that certain establishments have also been implicated in illicit activities.
In a related development, Maldives Immigration conducted a raid on September 18, targeting salons and spas in the same area to identify illegal workers. During the operation, 22 establishments were inspected, and seven female expatriates were detained for working in violation of local regulations.
The HPA’s ongoing inspections underscore its commitment to promoting public health and safety standards across service-oriented businesses.
