Hulhumale’ Hospital Unveils Prosthetics and Orthotics Workshop

Hulhumale’ Hospital marked the inauguration of a new Prosthetics and Orthotics Manufacturing Workshop today, an essential addition to its medical services.

The development of this workshop has been facilitated under India’s High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) scheme. The occasion was the result of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed in April 2022.
The dedicated efforts of Hulhumale’ Hospital in collaboration with Indian support, amounting to MVR 2 million, have led to the implementation of this initiative.
The scope of the project encompassed the establishment of a state-of-the-art manufacturing workshop specializing in prosthetic implants and custom-made orthotic implants. Staff training was also an integral part of the endeavour.
Over the years, India has consistently demonstrated its commitment to supporting the Maldives in the health sector. Indian doctors and paramedics have been actively serving across various medical facilities in the Maldives, reaffirming the strong ties between the two nations.
