The state-run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has notified its staff that it will discontinue the “flexible duty” arrangements previously offered to pregnant employees and new mothers.

In a memo issued to all departments yesterday, the hospital management stated that the increasing number of staff on flexible working hours is impacting its ability to maintain round-the-clock services.

Citing Article 183 of the Civil Service Regulation, the memo indicated that the decision was made to ensure the hospital can meet its operational demands. Employees currently on flexible duty are required to revert to regular schedules within two months.
