The Democrats presidential candidate Ilyas Labeeb emphasised his understanding of the development vision held by the residents of Addu City, during a campaign rally leading up to the presidential election.
Speaking at the rally, Ilyas Labeeb asserted that the people of Addu have a clear vision and plan for the city’s development. He criticised past presidents for making unfulfilled promises.
Ilyas provided an overview of President Solih’s promises for Addu, which include plans to add 7,000 tourist beds and facilitate flights from five countries to land in Gan. However, he pointed out that existing beds have been closed, and previous flights are no longer operational.
In a determined tone, Ilyas expressed the readiness of the people of Addu City to bring about change in the upcoming election, stating, “There is no one who knows better than me what is needed to develop the vision and understanding of the people of Addu City.”
He emphasised that those who lack an understanding of the city’s development needs will not be able to bring about the necessary changes, asserting his candidacy as the solution.
Highlighting his vision for Addu City’s development, Labeeb suggested the transformation of the Hithadhoo port into an international transshipment port for re-export, positioning it as a pivotal point for the country’s trade.
Addressing the issue of high ticket prices from Male’ to Addu City, Labeeb promised that, if elected, he would work to reduce ticket prices to a more affordable level.
He concluded his speech by emphasising the next five years as a crucial period for economic growth and prosperity.
