Imam of Masjid Al-Nabawi, Dr Salah bin Muhammad al-Budair, paid a courtesy call on President Dr Mohamed Muizzu this morning at the President’s Office.
During the meeting, President Muizzu warmly welcomed the Imam of Masjid Al-Nabawi, describing his visit as a great honour for the Maldives. He noted that the Imam’s presence symbolises the longstanding brotherly ties between the Maldives and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The President also highlighted that it has been 41 years since an Imam from Masjid Al-Nabawi officially visited the Maldives.
The Imam expressed his gratitude to the Maldivian Government for the invitation and generous hospitality. He emphasised the deep-rooted bond between the two nations, grounded in shared Islamic values, and voiced his hope for the continued strengthening of this relationship. He also conveyed warm greetings and well-wishes from His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and His Royal Highness Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
President Muizzu acknowledged Saudi Arabia’s continued support in various areas of national development, particularly in Islamic education. He also expressed appreciation for the special care and hospitality extended to Maldivian pilgrims during Hajj and Umrah.
The meeting concluded with both the President and the Imam expressing their shared hope that this historic visit would further deepen the spiritual ties between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia and serve as a source of inspiration for the Maldivian people.
