Immigration Announces Changes to Traveller Declaration Requirements
Maldives Immigration has announced that the “traveller declaration,” commonly known as the IMUGA form, will no longer be mandatory for outbound travellers, effective from tomorrow.
The Controller General of Immigration, Mohamed Shamman Waheed, stated that expatriates would also no longer be required to fill out the traveller declaration form from the effective date.
The traveller declaration was first introduced on 14 March 2021, serving as an embarkation and disembarkation card, and was previously mandatory for all inbound and outbound travellers.
Earlier in 2023, the requirement for Maldivian travellers to submit the form was lifted by Shamman. While the form is no longer necessary for outbound travellers from the Maldives, all inbound foreign travellers are still required to submit the form 96 hours prior to their flight.
Maldives Immigration indicated that this change is part of broader efforts to improve aviation services and streamline procedures for all travellers.
