In its statement, Maldives Immigration highlighted the importance of adhering to the country’s immigration regulations and urged all expatriates residing in the Maldives to comply with these laws.

However, the agency did not disclose specific details regarding the nationalities of those deported, nor did it provide the exact number of individuals in the latest group.

In addition to the deportations, Maldives Immigration carried out multiple raids in the capital, Malé, on Thursday, targeting overcrowded and unsafe accommodation blocks. One of these operations took place at Kalhuhuraage in the Henveiru district, where nine expatriates were detained, including six who were reportedly evading their employers. A second raid, also in Henveiru, led to the detention of five more irregular expatriates.

The crackdown has also extended to the salon and spa industry in Malé, where inspections have been carried out to ensure compliance with the Immigration Act. Working alongside Police Intelligence, the agency inspected 22 businesses, detaining seven irregular female expatriate workers and issuing notices to seven employers. As part of the broader initiative, over 3,000 irregular expatriates have been deported to date.
