Immigration Detains Expats Accused of Prostitution, Two Deported

Maldives Immigration revealed today that they had detained seven foreign nationals on prostitution charges, while two of them have been deported following an investigation. 

The four women and three men were arrested from joint operations conducted by the Maldives Police Service alongside Maldives Immigration. The seven individuals, aged between 19 and 43, were detained in four separate cases against suspected prostitution networks.

Liz Mukasa, 38, from Uganda, and Sofia Gaidukova, 24, from Russia, have already been deported, according to Immigration.  

Maldives Immigration also revealed that the deportation process of the other five individuals is currently underway. They include one Russian woman, Milana Batyrova, 25, and Taposha Akter Pria, 19, from Bangladesh, who are currently detained. 

All three men detained in these operations are from Bangladesh; they are MD Sanjid Hossain, 28, Abed Ali, 43, Sahin, 31.

Foreigners caught in illegal activities have been deported in the past as well.
